Crater Lake, in South Central Oregon, is the nation's fifth oldest national park. It was created about 6,850 years ago when Mount Mazama, a stratovolcano, collapsed. It is now one of the world's best known calderas. The caldera is about 6 miles wide. If you are ever in Oregon, you must spend some time there. Here are some photos from our visit in June, 2006.
